Local Queensway residents will be treated to a free fun day to celebrate the completion of a £5.2m regeneration project by Greatwell Homes to two nearby blocks of flats.
Sylvanus House and Diana House in Queensway were first developed in the 1960s. The refurbishment, which was completed in May, has given the scheme a new lease of life and provided 70 modern apartments across the two blocks.
The investment included providing 62 one-bedroom and eight two-bedroom energy-efficient apartments and a much improved environment, featuring new landscaping, greenery, footpaths and car parking.
To mark the completion Greatwell Homes has invited Sylvanus House and Diana House residents as well as those living in Kiln Way and Minerva Way to a fun-filled event on Saturday 1 August from 12pm to 3pm.
Gemma Ager, Community Involvement Officer for Greatwell Homes, said: “There will be plenty to do including a bouncy castle and barbeque for all those we’ve invited. Our staff will also be on-hand to answer any questions residents may have.
“We hope residents will use it as an informal opportunity to get to know one another and support their local community. If residents of other Greatwell Homes’ schemes would like to have a similar event we’d encourage them to get in touch.”
Northamptonshire County Councillor Elizabeth Coombe, Wellingborough Borough Councillor, Andrew Scarborough and representatives from the facilities management social enterprise company, Wellingborough Norse will also be at the event.
