Coronavirus: Update on our repairs service

In early May, the Prime Minister announced the Government’s plan to easing some of the lockdown restrictions. We wanted to take this opportunity to update you on how we are following those guidelines and how we will start to resume delivery of our services.

In line with the Housing Minister’s letter, we will be taking a phased approach to bringing  our routine repairs service back in order to keep our staff and customers as safe as possible, as well as ensuring we clear the backlog of jobs we already had booked in that had to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 restrictions.

Estates maintenance

From the 11th May, we have already started to tackle the backlog of grounds maintenance on our estates. We are following the Government guidance and requirement to maintain social distancing. This means that we are having to operate with half of the staff at one time, but please be assured that we will aim to cut all of the grass areas as quickly as possible.

Fencing works and other outside repair jobs

These will begin to take place from Monday 8th June. We will be doing these works in stages, firstly, doing those repairs which were originally booked in before lockdown and had to be cancelled. We will be contacting those customers first to rearrange their repair. We will be prioritising communal works and works that can be undertaken at the front and rear of a property that do not require access into a customer’s home, to ensure the safety of both our customers and staff.

Please note, that due to a reduced work force and the need to ensure we work within Government guidelines for safety and social distancing, we won’t be able to get all works done straight away but will aim to get these done as soon as possible.

Other routine repairs

Once all of the backlog of external works have been completed, we will then start to look at carrying out other routine repairs inside your homes that were booked in before our services were suspended. We will be ensuring that we adhere to government guidelines at all times. At this stage, we will not be taking any new repair requests until we have cleared the existing repair backlog. We will continue to keep you updated on progress and timescales and thank you all for your patience at this difficult time.

Roofing works

Our contractors, Lee Roofing, have started to resume works to survey the roofs at some of our homes for roof renewals and upgrade programmes. They will not require access inside of the properties but may ask for access to the rear garden. Any contractors working on our behalf will have a “Letter of Authority” from us on headed paper. If they do not have this then please contact us directly.

The safety of you and our Operatives

This is our top priority, and all of our Operatives whether inside or outside of your homes will be wearing the required protective wear and will be abiding by all social distancing restrictions to ensure you, your families and themselves remain as safe as possible.

We would ask if you or any members of your household are experiencing symptoms of the Coronavirus or are currently shielding and do not want us to enter your property that you make us aware.

We know this is a really difficult situation but the safety of our customers and staff is our top priority. We would like to thank you for your understanding and for many of your positive comments throughout this time – it really does mean a lot to us.
