Helping us to be more inclusive
Our Together Greatwell customer group ensures equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) principles are embedded across everything we do here at Greatwell Homes.
Together Greatwell works collaboratively with Greatwell Homes to:
- Challenge and scrutinise policies, procedures and practices to ensure they’re fair, inclusive and free from discrimination
- Represent the diverse needs and experiences of customers, ensuring their voices are heard and acted on
- Promote and support improvements in EDI within Greatwell Homes’ services and communities.
What we've been up to
International Women’s Day March 8 2025. | To celebrate International Women’s Day, Together Greatwell collaborated with Wellingborough’s Made With Many to create a video honouring the diverse women in our community. We hosted an empowerment workshop where women chose and crafted a meaningful word into art. In the afternoon, they were filmed individually sharing their words and the reasons behind their choices. The workshop was filmed to create an inspiring video. Watch it here: IWD 2025 – YouTube link. |
Our Christmas Children’s Story December 2024 | Every year, Together Greatwell works with our Executive Team to share a Christmas story. We’ve named the series, Stories From Around The World. Last December, we had the pleasure of welcoming Chris Holloway to read “Teddy’s Christmas Quest.” This delightful tale is about a lost teddy bear who finds his way home in time for Christmas, with a little help along the way. The story teaches important values like kindness, resilience and determination. We chose a large print font for the book to make it easy for everyone to read and enjoy. A big thank you to Chris for being part of our journey! Watch the video here: Teddy’s Christmas Quest |
Black History Month Celebrations – October 2024 | Black History Month is a significant time to recognise and celebrate the contributions and achievements of Black pioneers. Last year, as part of our “Stories From Around The World” series, we featured a story from Montserrat, a beautiful island in the Caribbean. The story was read by one of our customers, Myrle Roach. We’re excited to share that this story set a new record reaching over 1,000 views for Greatwell Homes! This shows how storytelling can help us understand and appreciate each other’s backgrounds and heritage. |
Adaptations Policy – Customer Summary – October 2024 | We’ve put together a concise summary of our adaptations policy to make it easier for our customers to understand the essential information and how to apply for an adaptation. Recognising that official documents can be lengthy and not always easy to navigate, we’ve created an easy-read poster to highlight the key points. |
Race Riots summer 2024 | During the summer of 2024, England experienced a wave of race-fuelled riots that erupted in various cities across the UK. This unprecedented and distressing period affected not only people of colour but the entire community. It served as a critical moment for us to connect with our customers, gather insights into their feelings and assess the impact, both direct and indirect, these events had on their lives. To facilitate open and honest conversations, we organised two community meetings where participants could share their thoughts and emotions regarding the situation. These discussions provided valuable insights into the community’s sentiments during this challenging time. We also explored customers’ perceptions of hate crime and their understanding of the support and guidelines we offer. At that moment, hate crime was addressed under the Anti-Social Behaviour policy. In response to the feedback we received, we’re committed to developing a new, standalone Hate Crime policy. This document will serve as a direct resource for our customers, offering clear information and support on this crucial issue. You said, we did! |
