What to do when your boiler is not working

As well as all of the other priorities you have over the winter period, we know that your boiler breaking can be horrible.

However, it’s not always necessary to call out a professional to come and check over your boiler.

Here are some things that you should do before calling for help:

  • Check to see if you have credit on your gas/electric meter, if you have one.
  • Check that your gas meter doesn’t say ‘OFF’ – if it does, please ring your gas supplier and they will be able to assist you.
  • Check to see if the electrical isolation switch is on – this is usually the switch next to your boiler.
  • Check your room thermostat is turned up.

Fault codes –

L2 (on ‘Ideal’ boilers)

E133 or E128 (on ‘Baxi’ or ‘Potterton’ boilers)

If you have any of the below fault codes on your boiler, this may mean that your condense pipe could be frozen – read how to unfreeze your pipes here.

If you have checked all of the above and your boiler is still not working, or you have any other fault codes showing, report your repair on your online account or call us on 01933 234450.
